About the Practitioner

My name is Elena Rudy. I have been a licensed massage therapist in the Eugene area for over a decade.  The focus of my practice is the relief of chronic pain and injuries through the use of deep tissue, Swedish, trigger point and myofascial release techniques.  I also use a variety of acupressure points and stretching  to design a treatment that will bring relief to each individual.

I received my original training in bodywork at the Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Study in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The training introduced me to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the benefits of an Eastern approach to healing.  I also learned the Meridian system and the use of Shiatsu, Japanese acupressure massage.

Upon moving to Eugene in 1999, I continued my study of massage at Lane Community College.  Throughout the years I have enhanced my schooling through the study of deep tissue massage and pregnancy massage.  Over the years, I have taken classes on myofascial release techniques through of the Rolfing Institute and through the "Anatomy Trains" course designed by Tom Meyers. And most recently, I have studied Scar tissue massage techniques and stretching, (the STRAIT method), with Marjorie Brooks.

I feel very fortunate to have found massage therapy as a career path.  As a college student I studied Biology and English.  Having that science background helps to enhance my understanding of the body.  And I am happy to combine that with my enjoyment of meeting and interacting with people, hearing their stories, and talking about ideas.  This makes massage a natural fit for me.

Aside from massage, I enjoy hiking and camping in the beautiful Oregon mountains, gardening, exercising, reading and spending time with my family.  I have a young daughter who delights me with her insights and humor everyday.
